Macy Douglas is returning to her childhood home after 17 years Just 7 when her mother was murdered there and her father was accused and sentenced to prison where he died she doesn’t remember anything of that awful night Having lived since then with her paternal grandmother who dies after a reoccurrence of cancer Macy is told of a “box” by her grandmother as she is dying The box holds clippings of the case and Macy begins to think that her father was somehow framed of the murder Macy’s grandmother had always stood by the suspicion as well Going back to her childhood home her maternal grandmother Opal Lassiter who since lived in the house has also died recently Macy soon finds out that grandmother Opal was also beginning to doubt her father’s guilt as well But how and why is the uestion Upon her arrival Macy meets police officer Nick Baldwin As they become better acuainted they also become involved in solving the mystery and helping Macy clear her father’s name However in doing so they are clearly stirring up trouble as the townspeople are clearly divided on the issue some very passionately so A uick read likeable characters in Macy and Nick but at times passages seemed repetitive in the sense of him dropping by a regular basis to check on her safety and just telling each other what they had found out in the meantime which the reader is already aware of Also while realizing that someone has already killed her mother and doesn’t like her meddling Macy seems to walk into potentially dangerous situations without much thought of the conseuences An okay book

This book is about Macy who loses two grandmothers within a short time of each other One she lived with and one she hasn’t seen or talked to in seventeen years She finds out she is left the house her grandmother Opal lived in She also finds out she lived there for the first seven years of her life and her mother was murdered in that house Her father was convicted of the murder and died in prison One grandmother believed he was guilty and the other didn’t She loses her job and returns to that small town and opens the house again Suddenly she is being threatened and stalked A good looking police officer Nick Baldwin comes into her life He first grabs her thinking she is trying to break into the house but then they become friends and He is one of the people in the town that is trying to take care of and help her The story is fast paced from one action to another This book is full of broken people In fact the whole town seems to have problems The murder seventeen years ago divided the town and now that Macy is back the town seems divided again well at first Who committed the murder? Was it someone who wanted to frame Macy’s father or was it really her father? Was it someone who had political connections? Did the police help to frame the father or just screwed up the investigation? Who is after Macy and then threatens Nick? The story is complex but very good Romance is small but does well within the story It took me about three uarters of the book to figure out who was the killer A very good read

uick easy read The characters were well developed and were uite likeable I was rooting for Macy Nick to get together but am glad it wasn't all smooth sailing; that wouldn't have been much of a story I started to get an idea of who done it midway through the book but there were enough twists thrown in that I wasn't sure until they were revealed
