Intriguing polar opposite sexy MC’s with instantaneous hot sexual chemistry;A riveting love story with significant angst;A sexy hot larger than life bad boy H and a petite feminine and beautiful heroine; Much better than the first novel in this duet I’d been getting a little worried about the dearth of 4 star novels at the start of my 2019 This has turned out to be my SECOND favourite of the new HP books from among the ones that were released earlier this month I’d been looking forward to this story a lot after reading about Diego in The Spaniard's Untouched Bride Both novels are set along the same timeline Diego wasn’t a main character in that novel but his actions in that novel were so OTT dramatic that it made him even exciting to me than the hero of that novel Diego literally kidnapped his brother’s fiancée and spirited her away so that he could marry her and fulfil the terms of his eccentric megalomaniac grandfather’s terms of inheritance for the family’s ancestral rancho in Spain Diego is the older brother of Matías – the H from The Spaniard's Untouched Bride I still have to summon the enthusiasm to write a review for that novel because it was uite good but uite good book reviews are absolutely the most difficult ones for me to write That's because it's easier for me when I make an emotional connection with a storyline Diego is the polar opposite of his brother Matías; he’s the “bad” brother with a supposed penchant for evil and nefarious schemes He’s cultivated the reputation as a ruthless businessman an unapologetic playboy a former debauched libertine who'd even experimented with drugs in his youth a reckless but lucky gambler and some folks even whisper that he’d murdered his first wife Karina This is the H Diego God had made him beautiful and he well knew it But God had also made vipers beautiful The better to attract their prey Diego has been obsessed with the heroine Liliana for a couple of years but he never made an active effort to pursue her until he discovered that his brother Matías had beat him to it and given the lady an engagement ring Liliana is a demure sheltered American heiress with a bit of a Mary Sue complex; she’s the kind of girl that makes some men turn all protective because they see her as this helpless little female She’s the polar opposite of Camilla the strong brave endearing feisty and tomboy heroine from The Spaniard's Untouched Bride Camilla is the type of heroine who will make drastic changes in her life in order to accomplish her dreams but Liliana has been coddled and sheltered all her life so she’s the type who will do whatever her daddy tells her to do I'm a daddy's girl because my late father was the most important person in life so I totally get Liliana's devotion to her daddy even though he wasn't as deserving of her love as my father is of mine This is the heroine Liliana She was demure Lovely Like a rose He wanted to reach out and touch her though he knew that if he did he was just as likely to bruise her petals as anything else The cult of the bad boy heroI bring up this topic because the bad boy H has often eclipsed the sweet good guy H's in the book boyfriend fantasies of many readers What is it about the fictional bad boy that makes him so appealing even though we are usually very careful to choose the good guys when it's time to pick a husband ? Diego is one of the glaringly obvious bad boy H's in modern HPlandia But he's a bad boy who's slightly different from the archetypal bad boy H; for one thing he's a little too introspective and very much in tune with his emotions At later points in this novel I started to wonder if Diego had a little bit of the Emo personality type hidden inside of him somewhere I immediately thought of the Emo kids on South Park who deliberately cultivate that ideal of life in some emotionally tortured darknessDiego seemed a little too focused on wallowing in his darknesss to be a true die hard badass H Conventional badass bad boy H's in romantic fiction are usually not concerned with this type of introspection and they definitely don't wallow in their darkness like this They're just bad they know it and they hardly ever stop to think of the conseuences of their badness on the people around them They don't even feel a smidgen of guilt until the very end of their novels for being stoic cold ruthless and for giving their heroines a hard time Diego on the other hand is a different kind of bad boy H He is always introspective and self aware; He had learnt to analyze the conseuences of his actions before he does something; It's obvious he cares deeply for Liliana from the very beginning of the novel; He's much sensitive and emotional than the conventional bad boy H;AndHe believes in love But before we get sappy and send him off into fields with flowers to sing and dance with his heroine I must mention an important addendum to the above list Diego believes in love BUT he thinks that love is not for the likes of him because he thought he was a monster like his dead father Diego's descent into darkness started at the age of 11 after his father had murdered his mother and got away with it Diego whose mother had been the sole shining beacon of purity and goodness in life sought to punish his father by setting fire to the other man's collection of classic collectors' cars His father had spanked him savagely but the worse conseuence had been his father's dawning pride in his recognition that little Diego was a chip off the old evil block It had been worse His father had simply looked at him his dark eyes regarding him with recognition To be recognized by a monster as being one of his own had been a fate near death At least then And this is where Diego's self fulling prophecy all started because he decided to embrace his dark side rather than to fight it and opt for goodness like his brother Matías Diego had spent the next few years accepting it And daring the darkness inside of him The crux of this plot hinges around Diego's kidnapping of Liliana and the blackmail that he uses to force her to marry him Liliana had only agreed to marry Matías because her father had persuaded her to; she wasn't attracted to him and hadn't even kissed him during the time they'd been engaged Most of Liliana's sexual fantasies were built upon dreams of the forbidden bad brother Diego but she never believed that he felt the same way about her Little did she know because Diego's obsession with her was intense She was his polar opposite the light to his darkness the good to his bad the innocent to his wickedness and all he wanted was besting his brother and debauching Liliana Liliana was a passive participant in her kidnapping because she had this raging sexual attraction for Diego and had been worrying about her upcoming wedding to Matías Life's not a bed of roses for the little rich girl who only wants to bang the guy who will soon be her brother in law When I'd read The Spaniard's Untouched Bride I thought Diego was just a gold digger who wanted to wrest the rancho away from Matías for pure financial gain In this book the truth is rather shocking Diego doesn't need money because he's a billionaire and the rancho is just a drop in the bucket of his many billions He wants the rancho because he hates it It's the place where his loving mother had been murdered and he wants to inherit all of it just so he can burn it all to ground and destroy it It's his final big F U to the dead father he still hates because the latter had loved rancho than everything and every person in his life Matías on the other hand is a builder rather than a destroyer and he wants the rancho to become a home that's no longer filled with darkness evil memories and unhappiness He wants to re build it into something positive Both brothers love each other but have been estranged for over a decade because of the many unchallenged misconceptions that each continues to have about the other Diego and Liliana's marriage starts off in a rather dramatic manner but the H surprised me when he didn't force the heroine to share the marital bed He gave her that option by telling her in the sexiest way ever that he only wants her when she's so hot for him that she's ready to beg LOL Oh did I mention how much I like Diego ? And might I add that she did end up kinda begging ?Diego is a mass of contradictions he cultivates his dark and evil side but he is also a staunch Catholic who wants to be married He has that strong Catholic guilt thing going on that only a practicing Catholic like me will understandI won't go into that and bore you guys but I will say that I found this part of his persona very relatable The MC's marriage got off to a rocky start but eventually settled down to lots of torrid lovemaking and it even appears as if Liliana is the only person who can soothe Diego and bring out the best in him It's also obvious to the heroine that her touch has both a sexual and a calming effect on Diego He's a very sympathetic bad boy H because it's indisputable that he's hiding his inner mommy's boy and that he needs a woman who's sensitive enough to nurture and love him in a selfless manner It all goes to hell however when Liliana tells him she loves him Diego firmly believes that he's undeserving of this love He blames himself for his late wife's death even though he had nothing to do with the car crash that led to Karina's demise Karina had been in a car that was driven by her lover But for Diego it's the self fulfilling prophecy acting out again in his mind because this guy has convinced himself that he is such a bad person that he will inevitably taint and inadvertently destroy everyone within his orbit I think that's part of the reason why he'd held himself aloof from his brother for so many years because he'd thought that Matías would be safer and better off away from him Liliana eventually grows a spine and leaves him after their relationship takes a turn for the worst when she reveals that she's pregnant She tells him how she feels calls him a coward for running away from love and tells him that she deserves better than to stay in a marriage and nurture a relationship that's one sidedHe comes after her eventually when he realizes that he can't live without her His first stop is to confront his brother and their initial meeting wasn't very warm They were like two alpha pups acting a little hostile at first before finally opening lines of communication and breaking the decade long impasse that had existed between themBoth brothers no longer care about their grandfather's Machiavellian plot to divide them by using the family rancho as bait They both tell the old man to F off and decide that they're gonna try and win their wives back when they realize that they're not evil like their late father and grandfather; unlike those men the brothers have discovered their ability to love “Well then” Diego said “Perhaps we are not broken after all” Diego does a good grovelling in order to win back the love of his fair Liliana He shocked her then dropping to his knees in front of the couch taking hold of her hands “I choose you Liliana You said that I was your light when all I saw in myself was darkness but that too is a matter of choice I want to be your light I want to love you even though it is hard for me” Liliana had her own sad little back story as the daughter of a woman who'd died tragically giving birth to her That left the heroine with her own little guilt complex which her manipulative father used to control her But I chose not to focus on this part of the storyline because to me this novel was all about Diego He's the kind of character who jumps out of the pages at a reader and everyone else in the story becomes a little less interesting LOL In the epilogue the MC's welcome the birth of their son and there's news that the rancho finally belongs solely to Matías That's all for the best because Diego no longer needs to be the destroyer when his life is now filled with love and lightSafety No cheating no OW no OM The heroine had been engaged to the H's brother but it was a business arrangement that was purely platonic The H's brother didn't love her and he went on to find his own heroine in The Spaniard's Untouched Bride Both MC's are celibate during their separation

Very passionate and emotional read The hero was very dark and tortured and I loved him for that His past was really tragic but he managed to overcome it with the help of his sweet wife I was rooting so badly for Diego and Liliana They both deserved a HEA so badly Their story was sad and angsty but the ending with their son was sweet I am so glad I bought this book I had very high expectations for this book and Maisey didn't let me down

Diego and Lilliana's storyI love an anti hero there is something about a bad boy villian finding the love of his life and maybe some sort of personal redemption for all his past misdeeds along the way ButI do still want him to retain some of his bad boy ualities not necessarily his villainy of courseA bad boy villian screamsand I mean screams DangerDangerDanger Will Robinson And when a bad boy villian falls for his one true lovewell HelloCrazy in lovejealous possessiveand stalker heroAnd we now come to the hero of this taleDeigoHe was the so called villian of his brother's story where he kidnapped his brother's fiancee Lillianaand absconded her away in the dark of night to his hidden island off the coast of EspanaFor our fair Lillianathis was no hardship because 2 years priorthese two had met at her father's home and a connection was madeThis story is one of the better MY books that I have read in yearsUsuallyit is a slog for me to finishbut I was drawn to this coupleThe heroine was the perfect light to the hero's darkI'll say it againMY's heros all need some really intensive therapy they could benefit fromtalk about tortured pasts they have from their deep rooted parental issuesVery nice epiloguethey deserved it for sureThis book was so much better of a read for me than the prior whose title I don't remember and am to lazy to even bother to try and look upA very solid 45 star read

I am conflicted on this storyI loved Lilliana and Diego was freaking hot Not going to lie about that but it bothered me when he wanted her for two years but pursued other women his thoughts and then he said he had been faithful somewhat to someone for two years and I thought it meant her but later on I realized he meant his first wife I just am so unsure what to think Their sex was hot and I totally loved it until I realized he was talking about his dead wife He was just an a What He did to her in the hotel after his brothers wedding broke my heart Not hers at all but my heart broke And when she got pregnant I wanted to hurt him She was an amazing heroine and I totally lovedhated Diego He was hot but so messed up It was great until it wasn't and I just wish he hadn't had so much darkness in him I really wanted to give it five stars because of Lilliana and the epilogue but as much as I wanted to I just couldn't I still am conflicted and may have to read it again but not today

Going against the flow on this one I’m not a fan of a bad boy hero – in this case a willful boy who revels in his bad behavior because of his painful backstory Willful bad boy kidnaps a 21 year old martyr to her father mom died in childbirth so she owes daddy so he can inherit his family’s ranch He plans on burning it down to spite his “good” brother Not only is he attracted to the heroine but she was his brother’s fiancé first and it’s spite grist for the revenge millHeroine for her part is thrilled to hear this hero has anger issuesdaddy issuesdarkness issues and believes that her magical virgin self can eradicate all the darkness She calls this love but all the author ever shows us is sex Lots and lots of sex The Hh don’t do anything else but have sex and philosophize They don’t work together – or go through any other common experiences beyond attending the brother’s wedding I don’t understand how having sex suddenly opened their minds to news ways of thinking The author just tells us this – as well as the startling proclamation that the heroine was the strongest person the hero knew Really? She’s 21 Never held a job Is pregnant and walked out to one of her daddy’s properties charging her meals to his account I can’t even But don’t judge by my review This is a well loved story

The Spaniard's Stolen Bride is the story of Liliana and DiegoAhSWOONI'm so glad I did not give up on this seriesA deliciously sexy love story filled with drama angst and romance It begins when our super devious bad hero kidnaps the innocent and enticed heroine from her window before her wedding whisking her away to a private alcove and blackmailing her to marry him Both have had a dark burning attraction towards each other for long and a little coercion leads to a marriage of convenience which soon turns into so much including a sexathon and a tearjerking journeyThe hero is damaged and cynical and his soul desperately craves the love care and understanding only the heroine and her determination can provideMade me laugh cry and fan myself and I was hooked from page one to the endHighly recommendedSafe455

What I particularly like about the Mills and Boon Modern collection is that the newish style of covers all look nearly the same but with many different stories I wouldn't want anyone who has never read a Modern book by Mils and Boon to think that all the stories are the same because they are not Each author brings there own voice to the characters Here in The Spaniard's Stolen Bride we have a bad character named Diego Navarro and I for one love reading about a bad man I despised his unruly behaviour Diego was bad from a young boy breaking his toys he even burned down his fathers shop I wondered as reading on just how bad can Diego Navarro get Well he will do anything to get his own way even kidnapping Liliana Hart why he kidnapped Liliana is something I'm not going to tell you Maisey Yates is one of my favourite authors and I would love all you readers to explore some of her titles of books
