45 starsreview to comeLeila's parents own a villa in Greece and she decides to invite her best friends along with her husband and daughter Gracie along for a two week vacation It's an absolute beautiful location and all the girls hope that this trip will fix some ongoing issues that they have First there's Leila who appears to have it all on the surface A beautiful daughter a caring husband an amazing job but she had an extra marital affair which is haunting her; plus the guy won't stop contacting her She doesn't know how to get past it or come clean to her husband Then there's Tor or Victoria who finds out on the morning of her flight to Greece that she is pregnant Her doctor has told her that she has zero chance to conceive naturally so this has come as a complete shock Her boyfriend Ed is ten years younger than her and she doesn't think he is ready for this kind of commitment Obviously this life altering news puts a damper on her trip and she isn't sure if she should tell Ed as their relationship is still pretty new Lastly there's Frankie who is single and hasn't been in a long term relationship in years She secretly harbors strong feelings for someone who isn't the best fit for her All three women must address their secrets eventually and who can think of a better location than at the Greek villa? Rebecca Farnworth's Swimming Pool Summer is the perfect beach read combining female friendships secrets drama a beautiful location and of course romanceAll three women are in their thirties and are dealing with real life issues in Swimming Pool Summer It was very Sex and the City to me which if you know me is a huge compliment Leila is the amazing hostess who seems to have it all together but has huge secrets Her relationship with her husband is pretty stressful and it made for some pretty awkward moments on the trip Also I wanted Tor to tell her boyfriend that she's pregnant like immediately I have no idea how she was able to hide it especially dealing with nausea the entire trip Ed is the perfect guy so I was hoping she would justtellhim Frankie frustrated me with her control freak tendencies and the fact that she couldn't get over her major crush even though he's a horrible person This horrible person whom they have all known since college ends up going on the trip Drama ensues Leila also invites her husband's best friend a fabulous guy on the trip as well and Frankie has had issues with him in the past More drama ensues once Frankie realizes he's going on the trip as Leila has kept that from her The setting was to die for in Swimming Pool Summer Can I be friends with this group and go on a trip to the Greek villa please? Farnworth does a fabulous job portraying a group of friends from college and how those friendships evolve and change once you are in your thirties I could especially relate to this aspect of the book The point of view switches each chapter and focuses on all three girls which I thought was done well I was eually invested in all three stories so it wasn't an issue that Farnworth jumped from character to character in Swimming Pool SummerMy only regret is that I didn't read Swimming Pool Summer this past summer on vacation It would be the absolute best book to read while laying out by the pool or soaking up the sun at the beach If you are looking for a read this fall to help you forget about the impending winter then check out Swimming Pool Summer It will make you forget about the leaves falling and snow coming; instead you'll want to have a cocktail by the pool with Frankie Tor and Leila

Rebecca Farnworth’s story of new love old love friendships and new lives sets the stage for a perfect end of summer read The story unfolds as three longtime girlfriends take a holiday to GreeceMeet Victoria or “Tor” as she’s known to her friends Some may call her a ‘cougar’ because she landed sexy Ed in what appears to be a perfect relationship for both of them Ed 10 years her junior seems to be the complete package He gets along with everyone is loved by all of her friends and best of all he’s head over heels in love with Tor But when Tor unintentionally gets pregnant she fears that their relationship will come to an end Leila seems to have the perfect life she and her husband Tom are busy raising their 4 year old daughter Gracie Their relationship seems odd to some yin and yang But they compliment each other so well they’re a good balance and have a strong love for each other But one mistake in her past has caused some discord in her marriage Suddenly she and Tom are short with each other and things are stressed between them Leila finds that her marriage is troubled and Tom notices a difference too Is she willing to forgive herself for her past? And will her past allow her to put the pieces of an almost broken marriage back together?Frankie has a beautiful perfect size 8 body and she works hard to maintain it And why wouldn’t she? Patrick one of her best friends told her she has an amazing body Frankie harbors a secret though She’s been in love with Patrick since they shared a single kiss years ago She can’t get over that kiss and Patrick has no idea that she’s been in love with him since then Fixated on Patrick Frankie isn’t prepared for him to show up in Greece The worst part? He isn’t aloneRebecca Farnworth’s “Swimming Pool Summer” brings Leila Frankie Tor plus their significant others and a few uninvited guests together on a Greek island for holiday Each woman harbors their own internal battles with each of their different relationships Can they put their individual troubles aside and enjoy their final holiday as the group they are or will jealousy and pride tear their friendships apart? I liked this end of summer read Emotions are real relationships are challenged and the plot story is enjoyable There were a few humorous parts that 30 40 something women will enjoy If you’ve ever had a group of friends that were like family you’ll enjoy this book I’ll definitely look for books by Rebecca FarnworthMY SCORE 45 Stars

Two weeks in the sun in an idyllic house on the island of Zakynthos Zante Three friends Leila Frankie and Tor all descend with a coterie of lovers husbands and friends; problems love upset and island living abound in this novel The island is a feast for the senses in full glorious TechnicolourEach girl has man trouble or hang ups and the author explores the convoluted thinking and angst that goes on behind the scenes in a way that kept me interested and for the holidaymakers and the reader the two weeks fly by The book offers a real sense of the heat and it does in parts feel like a Greek setting a restaurant in Zakynthos Town Feta Cheese and heat not to mention the sea sand and sex And beautiful vignettes of descriptive prose pepper the book though locale is only second fiddle to the storylineThere is Frankie who is on the door of becoming anorexic does she get saved? You bet this is chicklit heaven after all Tor is with much younger Ed and she worries about whether she is a real life cougar; and Leila is married to Tom but their marriage has hit a very bumpy patch Patrick arrives with Candy and what you see is not what you get with her And with them comes Matt to whom Frankie has an aversion But it all comes together and all is revealed for the happy endingThe writing style is really fluid and the writing is good If there were any gripes with what is an enjoyable read to rekindle the heat of Summer it would be some of typos which did irritate for example propositions like at in etc are occasionally missing and scuples should be scruples The majority of the setting is on the island but suddenly at Chapter 37 the front door is not that of the villa it is the door of Leila and Tom's house in Brighton it takes a while to work out that they have flown home But these small issues don't detract too much from the overall enjoymentA good book to capture the feel of a Summer with a touch of Greek life thrown in And if you would like to read books set in Greece then click here for our full collection

This is my first book by Rebecca Farnworth Tsk tsk From the blurb we know that the story is going to be about three friends and all of them have secrets Some of them some of them less breath taking In my opinion less breath takingThe book is actually very engaging and interesting I was really curious what is going to happen when will the secrets be relieved and what happens then the writing is flowing but But I missed something I missed action I missed complications I was hoping for drama and things happening It is very cliched plot in my opinion it was all very very predictable and from the beginning I could tell how it is going to endEvery chapter is dedicated to one of the girls so we know their point of views which worked brilliant in this book The characters are good they are nicely written and like I already said all of them have some kind of secret The most interesting for me was Leila's problem and I was very curious when it will be relieved and how it is going to end And I must say that I am dissapointed I was expecting it to see the lights earlier and then take part of the book not just some pages at the end Unexpectedly for me it was Candy who stole the show and she was the most colourful and most interesting of all the people thereThe descriptions of Greece and all the tavernas food colours were just greatBut I have enjoyed the book and if someone is looking for a summer unchallenging read you don't need to look furtherI have received a copy of this book from publishe via NetGalley

Set on the Greek island of Zakynthos in a villa 3 friends meet up for a holiday with respective partners each hiding a secret when they arrive Leila who is happily married to Tom has a young daughter Gracie and what appears have the perfect marriage is hiding a secret affair Tor in a relationship with Ed 10 years her junior finds out that against all the odds she is pregnant and Frankie hiding her secret love for her friend Patrick Patrick is also invited to the villa and arrives with his new girlfriend Candy and best friend Matt which all collide to make this an enjoyable chic lit novel This novel is a predictable in the outcome but the author is successful in creating atmosphere through descriptive writing to allow the reader to ‘taste’ the Mediterranean in the book The characters are believable and likeable their problems real and identifiable allowing the reader to connect with them through their journeys through allowing them to tell the story themselves in alternate chapters which in turn allows the reader to connect to each character in turnAlthough not a revolutionary plot line this does what it says on the tin; it’s a good value summer read with no real surprises but a feel good factor at the end when everything turns out right for them all
